Remember the “I Want to Touch a Dog” event in Malaysia that made the news three years ago? Well, the event is happening in Singapore!
Organised by Singapore pet hotel The Wagington, “I Want to Touch a Dog” is taking place on 1 April 2017, Saturday from 2pm to 5pm. Inspired by the original event in Malaysia that was organised by Syed Azmi Alhabshi in 2014, The Wagington hopes to replicate the same success in Singapore.
Like the event in Malaysia, the organisers for “I Want to Touch a Dog” in Singapore hopes to address concerns about touching dogs and dispel myths about canine cleanliness, especially for the Muslim community. At the event, they will also educate the public on how to handle dogs and understand canine behaviour.
The Malaysia event was a hit with Malaysian Muslims, drawing some 1,000 people back in October 2014.
Admision to the event is free. Members of the public are also encouraged to bring along friends who are afraid of dogs to help them overcome their fear. In an effort to make visitors more comfortable, the pet hotel will also provide surgical gloves and hand sanitiser. During the event, you will also get a chance to walk dogs owned by the pet hotel’s customers.
To liven up the event, the organisers will also be conducting instant dips for visitors to win prizes and also be providing refreshments.
If you want to attend the event, take note of the following:
- Wear YELLOW if you are there to watch the dogs but not touch them;
- Wear WHITE if you want to pet a dog and interact with dogs;
- If you are a pet owner who wishes to take your dog to the event to mingle, a one-time three-hour temperament assessment (costing S$35) is required.
To RSVP, whatsapp +65 9638 6347 with your name, number of adults attending and number of children (under 12) attending. Admission is free.
