Go Rogue at VivoCity This Christmas!

Last year, the Force was Awaken in the galaxy, kick-starting a brand new adventure within the Star Wars universe that kept millions of fans worldwide on the edges of their seats. Fast forward 365 days later, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has arrived to take your breath away once more.

Apart from the theatrical release of the Star Wars standalone film on 15 December, Star Wars fans are also in for another humongous treat this festive season. This Christmas, VivoCity brings you “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” Atrium Event, an interactive event that offers the very best of the Star Wars experience.

I had the unique opportunity to be one of the first few people to soak in the immersive experience at the grand opening of the event, and when I said “humongous” earlier, I sincerely meant, “HUMONGOUS”.

Just imagine the awe and amazement I was in when I saw a colossal 8.1-metre-tall AT-ACT Walker (All Terrain Armoured Cargo Transport, sibling of the Classic AT-AT seen in The Empire Strikes Back) standing tall and proud in the middle of the Atrium, wowing all visitors. It is a 1:4 replica of the mighty mean machine seen in the movies (debuting in Rogue One), so just imagine the actual size of this thing!

In order to stand a fighting chance against the gigantic AT-ACT of the Galactic Empire, the Rebels have to rely on the speed and agility of the X-Wing Fighters. Fuelled by the light side of the force and a sense of justice, I seized the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in the Rogue One Recon Mission – a virtual reality experience that took me to the cockpit of the X-Wing Fighter. Through the VR experience, I flew threw the Star Wars galaxy at hyperspeed, manoeuvring around Imperial Forces and aided the Rebellion in their mission — it’s a dream come true for me!

The event also had a game station where visitors could prove themselves worthy of the Force and take part in battles with their favourite Star Wars characters. In Star Wars: Commander, visitors could choose between fighting for the evil Galactic Empire or the just and courageous Rebellion, or train and collect iconic Star Wars characters in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.

Apart from all the fun that’s going on, this interactive event also gives visitors the perfect cure for their Christmas-shopping headaches. A wide range of Star Wars merchandises, ranging from Legos to Hot Toys, are sold at the event – if you have any loved ones who are die-hard Star Wars fans, this would be the best place to get them a Star Wars memorabilia for this Christmas.

Besides the 8m-tall AT-ACT towering the event, life-sized Death Troopers are also on display all around the Atrium, and a photo booth is also available to all visitors, making this the perfect opportunity for some #GoRogue selfies with iconic Star Wars characters.

As a Star Wars fan, trust me when I say you that you would not want to miss out on this great opportunity to immerse yourself in the Star Wars universe. The “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” Atrium Event will happen from 29 Nov till 18 Dec 2016 at VivoCity (Central Court B). Don’t miss out!
