In Search of Salt to Debut in December

Following their sold-out maiden performance Leaves, Passerby Projects returns this December 2016 with their second production, In Search of Salt, in collaboration with Dream Bravely Pte. Ltd. Staged for the first time in Singapore, the production is an original play written and directed by award-winning film director, Sarah Howell, and produced by Fern Yu, Gracia Ting, Ranice Tay and Xie Shangbin.

Written to pass the Bechdel test, In Search of Salt features an all-female cast starring Alison Wong, Susie Penrice Tyrie and Ranice Tay (Leaves), and with that emerges a compelling female-driven narrative that seeks to be an alternative and equally weighted voice in the theatre world.

Modern Day Mystery

In Search of Salt is a mystery-drama play that explores death in the age of social media. It does so through a complex psychological journey into the self, sisterhood, and mother-daughter relations.

The play tells the story of Gaya, who receives a series of Facebook messages from her younger sister who has supposedly died a few months ago. Gaya begins to wonder – did her little sister really die? And if so, who then is sending all those messages? With the help of a curious friend, Gaya embarks on a heart-wrenching journey that will reveal the unlikely truth behind the chilling Facebook chat.

This 1.5-hour play will be performed theatre-in-the-round to provide the audience with a raw, intimate and immersive theatre experience. Passerby Projects has always been unafraid of telling raw and intimate stories through performance. Coming off a poignant inaugural production, it is likely that this show will be no different and speak to your heart.
