This Is the Future of Airline Luggage Tags

You may have already seen this on Lufthansa’s in-flight publications. Now, RIMOWA’s revolutionary Electronic Tag is here in Asia. It is a technology that allows a seamless check-in experience for travellers.

RIMOWA’s first fully integrated digital suitcase lets you check in your luggage using your mobile phone and you only need to deposit your luggage at the airport before flying. The check-in counter staff don’t even have to print out luggage tags anymore – it’s all digitally printed on the RIMOWA suitcase.

Right now, only two airlines have partnered with RIMOWA for this, namely German carrier Lufthansa Airlines and Taiwanese carrier EVA Air. However, Mr Sven Lepschy, Vice President of RIMOWA Electronic tag, foresees that the electronic tag will be a “standard in five to 10 years’ time” and eventually replace paper tags.

Lufthansa has been using this new technology since the beginning of this year. There are now more than 5,500 bags with this new technology being in use, with more than 7,500 registered users.

EVA Air will provide the service from 1 December 2016 onwards.

RIMOWA is currently in talks with more than 30 airlines to introduce this technology.

The RIMOWA Electronic Tag is available for all check-in sizes for all collections except the Classic Flight range and the Salsa Air range.

RIMOWA Singapore stores are located at Mandarin Gallery #01-11, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands Casino Level #B2M-217 and Suntec City (North Wing) #01-476.
