Epicureal Experience at Marina Bay Sands Epicurean Market

Something must be right if Marina Bay Sands is now doing its 4th edition of the Epicurean Market. Happening this weekend, we got an early look at the offerings at the event that got us eating (and talking).

Farmer’s Market

Right at the entrance to the whole event hall is the Farmer’s Market where you get the freshest and rare produce from around the world. I would highly recommend to spend some good money on the Coho Salmon Fillet that costs only S$15 and the ready to cook Alaskan Crab Leg set that comes with its own baking tray and sauces only at S$35. Good value indeed.

Then there’s the freshly made pasta sauces from Mozza that you can cook at home! Do bring your own bag if you plan to buy a lot of produce.

Waku Ghin

Fresh from being given the Michelin Star in the Singapore’s edition of the much talked about food guide, Waku Ghin’s involvement in the market is certainly welcome as crowds immediately made for the beeline to taste Chef Tetsuya Wakuda’s creations.

His signature dish Marinated Botan Shrimp with Sea Urgin & Oscietra Caviar is offered during this event. There’s also the smooth and fragrant Isojiman Gingo Nama Sake available only at Waku Ghin that matches well with the food.

Bread Street Kitchen

Everyone knows Gordon Ramsey and his Bread Street Kitchen has opened for quite some time now. If you have not tried any dishes from his restaurant, you can try the Lamb Shepherd’s Pie.

CUT is always famous for their meat dishes, but this time round I was pleasantly surprised with their seafood offerings. The Maryland Crab Cake is very flavourful and quite substantial and will go well with white wine.

Mozza by Mario Batali & Nancy Silverton

Comfort food is what we usually crave for and perhaps you should add Mozza’s own take of chicken tortellini & broth (Tortellini & Brodo).

John Kenkul’s Yardbird Southern Table & Bar

I have a lifetime vendetta against chicken and I am definitely a fan of Lewellyn’s Fried Chicken, Watermelon and Waffles ($16). This is basically mains and dessert dish rolled into one. The special marinate permeates through the crispy chicken skin is unique from all the KFC, Popeye and Texas chicken we grew accustomed to.

Omakase Tasting Flight

There are lots of wine and spirits you can try at the Epicurean Market. However I made my way straight to the beer station that serves the Artisanal Japanese Craft Beer. And if you don’t really know what to drink, get the Omakase Tasting flight and you get to taste what’s on the tap – Iwate Kura Stout and Nasu Kohgen Ai Premium Lager which incidentally is served inside the Imperial Household.  The third drink in the flight is served out of the bottle is the Iwate Kura Sansuo Ale with Peppercorn to spice it up.

Nespresso Coffee Cocktail

Alcohol not your cup of tea? Then you can try coffee cocktail by Nespresso. I have tried both of them, Maracuja Cola-Da, a brazilian inspired drink with cola and King’s Cup that has cumin (or curry flavoured) in the drink.
