Spring 2016 Trend Report

1

Spring is just round the corner and that means a whole new colour palette, and the perfect reason to go on a shopping spree. If you’re not sure what to invest in this season, we’ve got some advice for you!

1. Lingerie Lookalikes

Yes, you read that right. Lingerie is big this Spring and don’t be afraid to wear your clothes from the inside on the outside. Take a leaf from Givenchy, Alexander Wang and Saint Laurent as they sent these sensual pieces down the runway. Try pieces in pastels instead of white and black to steer clear from looking like you forgot to put on your clothes before leaving the house for the day.

2. Florals… Duh

It wouldn’t be Spring without florals and as Miranda Priestly said in The Devil Wears Prada:

Go for understated florals in your pieces instead of loud prints, and infuse your florals with statement lace pieces as well for that extra hint of romance in the air.

3. Bare Shoulders

Don’t be afraid to flaunt your shoulders and collarbones in this Spring trend! One point to note while rocking this look is to keep the overall hemlines long in order to achieve a classy, chic, and polished look. Think knee-length to midi skirts or dresses instead of mini skirts.

4. Sports Luxe

It’s the dress down look that all supermodels love; channel your inner Gigi Hadid as you mix up your favourite luxe pieces with a little bit of street. Don’t overdo it, just swap out your usual stiletto or flats for sneakers and change up your cardigan for a bomber jacket instead.

5. The Silver Lining

Silver is definitely one flattering colour if you pair it right. Choose a cut that’s flattering for your body type and depending on the occasion, dress up or dress down your silver piece. If wearing silver to work or school is a little too much, invest in a pair of silver stilettos or sneakers for that extra pop of shine.

6. Line Me Up

Stripes just got an update this season! In addition to our all-time favourite striped tees, brands have incorporated this very wearable print into different colours and cuttings. Instead of buying more striped tees this season, why not try shirt dresses or cigarette pants? When done right, stripes have been proven to make you look taller.
