How to Get Dewy Skin Like The Koreans

1

Would you like to have dewy skin like the Koreans? Thanks to Korean celebrities who popularised the look, the dewy look is in. If you are a fan of Korean drama, you might have noticed that the female leads have radiant and dewy skin. The Koreans call this kind of skin 물광피부 (mul-kwang-pi-bu), directly translated as ‘watery light skin’.

What exactly is dewy skin? It’s a fine balance between a matte dry finish and a shiny, oily look. When you have dewy skin, your skin looks healthy, well-hydrated and radiant. With good skincare, light make-up and aesthetic treatment, you too can achieve the same Korean dewy look.

Here is a simple three-step regime to dewy, glowing skin.

Skincare Regime

A natural look involves a good skincare regime. Practise gentle cleansing and regular exfoliation for your face. Do note that over-cleansing irritates the skin, and can lead to redness, stinging, burning, itch, and more sebum production. Regular exfoliation of dead skin cells will help to reveal brighter, younger skin.

Moisturise with an oil-free, non comedogenic product. A good quality BB cream would do the trick and hold it all together for you.

Antioxidants can help reduce the damage from the sun, induce skin lightening and anti-aging. Common products in the market include Vitamin C, White Radiance and Crystal Tomato. What you can do at home is to stock up on green tea, blueberries and cranberries. These food items are not only good for your skin, they are also perfect for a morning pick-me-up, teabreak or supper.

One thing to note, we all possess unique skin types, and different skin issues, thus the regime has to be individualised.

Make-up

Using light make-up can help to enhance your features and achieve that Korean dewy look. Use good quality make-up products that are appropriate for your skin type. If you use BB cream, gently spread a light amount on your face, concentrating on ares that tend to have shadows e.g. under-eye, nose corners and lip corners.

You can also use a blusher to highlight and accentuate your apple cheeks.

Aesthetic Treatment

Besides good skincare and light makeup, you can also opt for aesthetic treatment to achieve that Korean dewy look. There is a product called skin boosters to help you achieve just that. Skin boosters are actually hyaluronic acid that helps to rejuvenate your skin.

Skin rejuvenation consists of hydration and plumping the skin for firmness, elasticity, and skin smoothing. During the process, skin boosters are injected in multiple micro-droplets just under the skin. Such a treatment will be suitable for those with saggy skin, young dull skin or matured sun-damaged skin.

Typically, three treatment sessions are required to achieve maximum hydration, plumping and smoothing. Thereafter, maintainence treatment can be arranged to upkeep the skin condition.
