Air New Zealand Makes Cool Safety Video with Hot Surfers

Airlines seem to be trying to outdo one another these days with unconventional inflight safety videos. Following its “most epic” Lord of the Rings-themed safety video, Air New Zealand continues the trend with its latest safety video featuring professional and championship surfers.

Titled “Surfing Safari”, the new safety video was shot at various surfing spots in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Lending support to the video is a stellar cast from the surfing world including 2014 world champion Brazilian Gabriel Medina, three-time world champion Australian Mick Fanning, Sports Illustrated model Anastasia Ashley and many more.

Air-New-Zealand-VideoPlayed to the catchy tune of “Young Folks” by Peter Bjorn and John, the video shows the surf stars give a rundown on all the safety rules from putting on oxygen masks to setting electronic gadgets on flight mode – all done while looking great in their toned bods, of course.

HD action camera manufacturer GoPro worked together with the Kiwi carrier to capture the surfers’ action on water.

“Surfing is bigger than ever globally than ever globally and I am keen to do all I can to interest more people in the sport. Air New Zealand operates to some of the most amazing surf destinations around the world,” said reigning world champion Medina. “It has been terrific to showcase a handful of these with some of the greatest surfers of all time.”

Air New Zealand hopes that its latest video will put the airline and the three destinations featured in the spotlight for travellers while engaging travellers on board the aircraft with key safety messages.

From having the “most epic” safety video, Air New Zealand can now lay claim to having the “coolest” safety video in the industry.
